You can find a detailed and insightful Smart Keyboard Folio vs. Not sure which one to use? Here we are to sort things out for you. For iPad users, Apple sells its famous keypads as Smart Keyboard Folio and Magic Keyboard. Particularly for tablets and iPads, attaching a keyboard can substantially boost your productivity. What a shame because I LOVE there form factor.Keyboards are essential pieces of hardware that can make your tasks significantly more manageable. If you want to replace your laptop with iPad, the Magic Keyboard makes it 95% capable, but if you want a tablet experience to complement your laptop as well as a super slim lightweight package the Smart Keyboard folio can’t be beat.Įdit: went to two Apple stores in NYC and all 6 iPad minis I looked at have awful jelly scrolling. Ultimately my almost 3 year experiment of replacing my MacBook with iPad has been successful, but the 5-10% of the time I need a Mac it really does hurt to be limited by iPadOS. I think that the size is still slightly too big for my home couch device, but I think I’ll wait for the mini to get refreshed with a better display or an amazing deal before giving this iPad up. When I want a cursor I can use the Magic Mouse or just grab a laptop. I’m happy now to be able to flip the keyboard back and use it as a tablet. The Magic Keyboard practically doubled the weight of the iPad Pro. The reduced weight made me realize that this thing is super portable still and I really don’t need a mini to get the desired portability I want. Now over the past week I’ve switched back to the Smart Keyboard folio and I gotta say, this thing really makes the iPad a tablet again. I went ahead and sold my Magic Keyboard to a friend in anticipation of getting a new mini and trading in my 2018 11” iPad Pro, but after the initial reviews and the jelly scrolling issues I’ve decided to hold off for a bit. I was becoming frustrated with the limitations of iPadOS and wanted to switch back to a MacBook for a while. When the iPad mini 6 was announced I was pretty hyped for that form factor and a better “couch device” to complement my iPhone mini. I had the Magic Keyboard on my iPad for over a year now and I had my Smart Keyboard folio tucked away in a drawer during that time. I got the 2018 iPad Pro when Apple didn’t refresh the 12” MacBook to replace my aging 11” MacBook Air. I was super excited for official cursor support on iPadOS and immediately purchased the Magic Keyboard. Thank you for reporting spam and other rule-breaking content.
